US President Donald Trump stated that he currently sees no need to consider imposing new sanctions against Russia, as his meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska went very well.

"Because of what happened today, I believe I don't need to think about this right now," he said on August 15 in an interview with Fox News following the summit, responding to a question about possible consequences for Russia.

"You know, I think the meeting went very well," the White House head added.

However, he did not rule out that the issue of sanctions could return to the agenda in the future. "I may have to think about it in two or three weeks or so, but right now we don't need to think about it," Trump noted.

On August 15, a meeting between Putin and Trump took place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Alaska. The communication lasted more than three hours, including changes in format: tête-à-tête in the American leader's limousine on the way to the main negotiation venue and in a narrow "three-on-three" format. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also participated in the meeting from the Russian side, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff represented the American side.
