# The US is preparing a ground operation against Iran: main targets

The probability of the United States conducting a local ground military operation against Iran, as well as the strategic plans being developed in connection with this, have become the focus of attention of the world's leading media outlets. Currently, senior American officials and think tanks are seriously considering several key scenarios, two of which military experts call the most realistic and potentially explosive for the entire Middle East.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was discussed in the latest analytical segment on the YouTube channel "Free Iran."

The first, so-called "uranium scenario," envisions a lightning-fast special operation by elite units. Its main objective is the seizure and immediate removal from the territory of the Islamic Republic of approximately 450 kg of highly enriched uranium.

The second scenario appears even more large-scale: it involves the landing of American troops and the capture of strategically important islands in the waters of the Persian Gulf. The primary target in this case is Kharg Island.

Historical and economic background: Kharg Island is the main lifeline of the Iranian economy. More than 90% of all of Iran's oil exports pass through its deepwater terminals.

This information was essentially confirmed by former U.S. President Donald Trump. Back in late March, in his high-profile interview with the authoritative British publication Financial Times, the politician, in his characteristically straightforward manner, lifted the veil of military secrecy: "Maybe we'll take control of Kharg Island, and maybe we won't. We have a huge number of options in reserve. However, such a step would mean that we would have to maintain a presence on the island for a certain period of time." When journalists asked a follow-up question about the readiness of Iranian air defense and coastal defense systems to repel an attack on this most important strategic facility, Trump responded with confidence: "I don't think they have any serious defense at all. We could handle this task incredibly easily and without unnecessary complications."
