Putin instructed to prepare proposals for possible nuclear tests

If the US or other members of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty conduct nuclear tests, Russia will take "adequate actions".

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He instructed the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Defense, and special services to prepare proposals on the feasibility of starting preparations for nuclear tests.

At the same time, Putin emphasized that Russia has always strictly adhered to and continues to adhere to the obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and there are no plans to deviate from these obligations.

Earlier at the same Security Council meeting, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov proposed to begin preparations for full-scale nuclear tests in response to US actions.

"The readiness of the forces and facilities of the central test site on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago allows for its implementation in a short time," he said.

US President Donald Trump announced imminent nuclear tests on October 30, saying that other countries, including Russia and China, are already engaged in them.
