Operations of most government institutions are suspended in the neighboring country due to heat

In Iran, due to abnormal heat and power grid overload, authorities ordered the closure of many government institutions to reduce electricity consumption.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Iranian media, the Ministry of Energy initiated this step. According to the statement, in at least 15 of the country's 31 provinces, government institutions will either be completely closed or switched to reduced working hours.
According to Tehran Governor Mohammad Sadek Motamedian, these measures are necessary to control energy consumption, especially in water and electricity supply sectors. Meanwhile, emergency and urgent care services will continue to operate as usual.
Since mid-July, the country has been hit by extreme heat, causing the power system to become overloaded. In some areas, rolling blackouts have begun. In the south of the country, air temperature exceeded 50°C.
Among the affected regions are West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Hormozgan, Alborz, as well as the capital Tehran. The capital's authorities have also reduced pressure in the water supply system due to a sharp drop in water levels in reservoirs. According to media reports, the country is experiencing the worst drought in the last hundred years.
