American senator: Trump is close to reaching an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia
US President Trump is on the verge of concluding a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Republican Party member and US Senator Steve Daines wrote about this in an article for The Wall Street Journal.
"This will be an outstanding achievement - another step toward stability, contributing to regional and international peace, as well as economic benefits that extend far beyond the countries involved," he said.
According to the senator, many attempts by third countries or organizations to establish peace have been ineffective or short-sighted. Previous US administrations, Daines noted, did not prioritize the region and peace negotiations.
In his words, Trump is promoting growth and stability in the region and beyond.
Daines added that the imminent signing of this agreement by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will contribute to peace and stability in the South Caucasus and throughout the world.
