Media: Iran may gain access to uranium that the US believed had been destroyed as early as 2025
According to U.S. intelligence, Iran may have retained access to enriched uranium stockpiles at a facility in Isfahan. It was previously believed that this storage site had been eliminated as a result of U.S. strikes in June 2025.
As The New York Times reports, citing informed sources, the U.S. intelligence community discovered a "very narrow passage" that allows Tehran to extract uranium from beneath the rubble. The facility is under constant surveillance, and intelligence agencies are confident they will be able to track any attempts to move nuclear materials.
The question of securing these stockpiles has been discussed by the U.S. administration for several weeks. Various options are being considered — from protecting them to completely blocking access to them.
According to the Axios news portal, President Donald Trump previously suggested sending American military personnel to Iran to address this task.
