A man from China with a PhD and a master's degree from Oxford became a courier after 10 job rejections, reports Asia One.

Ding Yuanzhao, who holds a master's degree from Oxford and a PhD from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, found himself unemployed after his contract ended in March 2023. Despite multiple attempts to find employment, he was rejected at more than ten interviews.

"I didn't expect my experience would end with such a job search," he admitted.

As a result, the 39-year-old man began working as a courier, first in Singapore, where he earned about $700 a week for a 10-hour workday. Later he moved to Beijing, where he now works for one of the largest delivery platforms. Despite such an unexpected turn in his career path, Ding doesn't complain.

"It's a stable job. With this income, I can support my family. If you work hard, you can earn enough for a decent life. It's not a bad job," the Chinese man believes.

He also noted that food delivery allows him to combine work with his favorite activity - running. According to him, an advantage of the profession is the opportunity to constantly move and be outdoors.

Ding's story has sparked a wave of discussions on social media. Many admire his determination and ability to accept reality as it is. Others view his choice as a symbol of flexibility and willingness to adapt in conditions of fierce competition in the job market.

Currently, Yuanzhao continues to work as a courier and says that he has found stability, meaning, and even pleasure in this job.
