Major cities of Europe left without electricity

Four European countries - France, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal - experienced large-scale power outages that paralyzed the infrastructure of entire regions. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the Spanish publication Cadena SER, the situation in Spain has become critical: railway traffic across the country has stopped, including the metro, traffic lights and some airports have ceased to function. A dramatic drop in electricity consumption has been recorded - from 25,184 megawatts to 12,425 megawatts. The reasons for such a sharp decline remain unknown, and there have been no official comments from the authorities.
In France, the energy crisis was more localized - outages mainly affected the Burgundy region.
Notably, shortly before these events, an unprecedented phenomenon was observed in several European countries - electricity prices fell below zero. This happened due to record volumes of electricity generation at German solar power plants. A similar situation with negative electricity prices was recorded in the Netherlands and Belgium.
