It has become known why Trump and Putin will meet in Alaska

Presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will meet on American territory, as the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) does not apply there.
As Oxu.Az reports, this is according to The Washington Post.
American journalists recalled that during the preparation for the meeting between Trump and Putin, several options for the meeting were considered. Putin publicly stated that the negotiations could take place in the United Arab Emirates. However, the possibility of a meeting between the two leaders in Italy was rejected because the Russian leader could be arrested there under an ICC warrant, the publication notes.
"The United States is not a party to the court, so meeting in Alaska avoids this problem," WP writes.
It is noted that the choice of Alaska as the meeting place is explained by the proximity of this state to Russia.
"It seems quite logical that our delegation should simply fly across the Bering Strait," said Putin's advisor Yuri Ushakov.
On August 15, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will hold talks in Alaska - this will be the first meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States on American territory since 1988. The main topic is peace in Ukraine. The proposals under discussion may include an exchange of territories and Kyiv's refusal to join NATO, according to Western media.
