It has become known where Shakhin Shikhlinskiy will serve his enormous sentence
The former leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals (Russia), Shakhin Shikhlinskiy, convicted on a number of serious criminal charges in Yekaterinburg, is being transferred to a penal colony in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. His son and lawyer Mutvaly will serve his sentence in the Sverdlovsk Region.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was revealed to E1.RU by several independent sources.
"On July 17, transfer documents were signed for the Safarov brothers and Shikhlinskiy Sr. They were taken to a prison in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Mutvaly Shikhlinskiy was transferred on July 19 to Correctional Colony No. 53 in Verkhoturye," noted one of the agency's interlocutors.
The Safarovs and Shikhlinskiys were arrested in the summer of 2025 in the capital of the Urals. They were charged with organizing assassination attempts and murders and sentenced to long terms in a penal colony. The Shikhlinskiys were separately tried for violence against a government official, whom they hit with their car during the arrest. Mutvaly received eight years in a general-regime correctional colony, while his father received a total of 24 years, the first four of which he will spend in prison.
As a reminder, on the evening of July 1, 2025, the head of the diaspora Shakhin Shikhlinskiy and his son Mutvaly were detained by special forces officers near the "Baku Plaza" shopping center, which belongs to the Shikhlinskiy family. At the time, the Shikhlinskiys were driving an armored Mercedes Gelandewagen. The arrest video shows people in camouflage without identification markings running up to the car and smashing its windows while it was moving. The driver began to reverse, and one of the security officers fell. Then the Shikhlinskiys opened the doors, were pulled out and forced face down onto the asphalt. Mutvaly was released almost immediately, while Shakhin was taken to the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region.
On July 16 of the same year, Mutvaly was arrested at the Leninskiy Court, while his father left for Moscow. On August 2, Shakhin Shikhlinskiy surrendered to law enforcement. By a decision of the Basmanniy Court, he was also arrested.
The court also handed down sentences to Shikhlinskiy's compatriots. All of them also received prison terms:
Akif Safarov - 21 years,
Bakir Safarov - 10 years,
Ayaz Safarov - 20 years,
Kamal Safarov - 14 years,
Mazakhir Safarov - 13 years,
Shajayaddin Rajabov - 14 years.
It should be noted that the investigation believed that Shakhin Shikhlinskiy may have been involved in the assassination attempt on Fekhruz Shirinov and the organization of the murder of trader Ikram Pashayev in 2001. Shirinov survived because the killer's pistol jammed. Fifteen years later, the case was revived.
