The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has begun a ground operation to take control of Gaza and has occupied the outskirts of the city.

As reported by Oxu.Az with reference to the Jerusalem Post, this was announced by IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effi Defrin.

He confirmed that the Israeli Ministry of Defense will call up an additional 60,000 reservists for service, with summons to be sent out this week. Defrin added that another 20,000 summons will be sent later in August.

According to the general, the IDF is working to ensure that Gaza residents can evacuate to safe places, receive humanitarian aid and medical care.

Earlier, as reported by the office of the Israeli Cabinet head, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered to reduce the timeframe for eliminating the last strongholds of radicals in the Gaza Strip and defeating the Palestinian Hamas movement before approving plans to capture Gaza City.
