In Iran, "spy hunting" is being legalized
The approval by the Iranian parliament on August 16 of the general provisions of a bill to combat foreign influence has sparked widespread discussions in the country. The publication in Iranian media of the full text of the law, consisting of four chapters and 33 articles, has led to further escalation of debates and also given them a more specific character.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated in a video report prepared by the YouTube channel Azad İran.
According to the representative of the Parliamentary Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy, Hasan Ghashghavi, the purpose of the bill is to create a legal framework for combating the influence of foreign states, intelligence services, and other foreign structures in the country.
"We have a law on espionage, however, there is a legal gap regarding the issue of foreign influence. The current bill addresses this gap," he added.
