The death toll in Kyiv as a result of the massive attack on the night of August 20 has risen to 15 people. Rescue and emergency recovery operations at the sites of damage continue.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to a statement by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram, the information about 15 deaths was confirmed by medics. Earlier, 13 deaths and 39 injuries had been reported.

Currently, rescuers are working in the Solomianskyi district of the capital. Specialists are dismantling the floors of the damaged multi-story residential building and removing hazardous structures from nearby buildings. 52 cubic meters of construction debris have already been removed from the scene.

Psychologists from the Main Directorate provided assistance to 98 people. In addition, pyrotechnic units surveyed the area for explosive objects and found safe remnants of a missile. Canine handlers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are also working at the scene.

In light of the events, August 21 has been declared a day of mourning in Kyiv. The corresponding decision was announced by Vitali Klitschko.

On this day, flags on municipal institution buildings will be flown at half-mast. Authorities also recommended lowering state flags on buildings of state and private ownership.

In addition, entertainment events will be prohibited in the capital on August 21.
