How would a peace process between the USA and Iran affect the Caspian states?
Another episode of the program "What Are They Saying About Us?" (Bizdən nə danışırlar?) aired on Baku TV.
The program reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted the positive impact of peace with Azerbaijan on the country's economy. A publication by the Armenian outlet Aysor states that Pashinyan, speaking in the National Assembly during the discussion of the annual report on the execution of the state budget for 2025, declared that the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict has ended and that in the 2026 elections, the people of Armenia supported peace. According to the prime minister, the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia has already given a new impetus to the country's economic development.
In addition, as noted in the program, Russia hopes that the long-term reconciliation between the US and Iran will allow the restoration of full-fledged cooperation among the Caspian states in the five-party format. According to TASS, this was stated by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing in Moscow.
"The Iranian conflict has negatively affected international security, and this has been felt in the Caspian region as well. We expect that in the very near future, after the parties to the conflict sign the agreements reached, the Caspian states — Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Azerbaijan — will be able to resume the implementation of previously planned joint steps in the Caspian in the five-party format," she stated.
