The Press Council of Azerbaijan condemned offensive publications in Russian media

Some Russian media outlets are spreading obscene, threatening, and offensive materials and statements directed at the Azerbaijani state, people, the country's leadership, and prominent representatives of our country.

This is stated in the statement of the Press Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

"We believe that this completely contradicts the principles of civilized journalism, ethical standards, and human values.

Unfortunately, such cases in the Russian information space are observed systematically.

The Press Council considers such cases to be completely contrary to the spirit of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as to the relations between the media of the two countries.

We would like to separately note that Azerbaijani media have always been distinguished by their careful approach to issues related to neighboring countries, including Russia, and have not allowed statements and assertions that go beyond professional principles.

Therefore, the emergence of such unpleasant cases in the Russian information space causes deep regret and justified dissatisfaction among the Azerbaijani public.

The Press Council of Azerbaijan strongly condemns what is happening and also appeals to the Russian media community and society as a whole with a call to take serious measures regarding cases aimed at undermining Azerbaijani-Russian relations in the media sphere and, in general, friendly relations between the peoples.

The organization once again states that offensive statements and threats directed at the Azerbaijani state, people, and its prominent representatives are unacceptable.

The systematic appearance of such materials under conditions of strict legislative regulation of the Russian information space is tantamount to their approval at the level of state policy of the Russian Federation.

The Press Council once again reminds those who make such statements that they bear legal responsibility," the statement of the Press Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan reads.
