IRGC: U.S. Bases Will Be Seized If Washington Uses Nuclear Weapons

American military bases around the world will be seized if the United States attempts to use nuclear weapons against Iran.

This was stated by Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite military units).

"[The use of nuclear weapons] could turn out to be a mistake for them. The morning after the bomb is used, all American military bases around the world will be seized. Today the situation is different from what it was during World War II. The peoples of the world have awakened. No one in the world will allow such a crime to be committed, because next time it could affect them," he said in an interview with the American television channel PBS.

The general did not clarify whether Iranian forces would occupy U.S. bases independently or with the help of other forces. Addressing the question of the possibility of developing nuclear weapons in Iran, the IRGC representative stated that the republic "does not need nuclear bombs," since "the Islamic and divine values of the Islamic Revolution are capturing the world."

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
