Trump doubts Iran's readiness to sign a deal with the US
As of today, Iran has not expressed readiness to accept the US conditions regarding the cessation of the conflict.
US President Donald Trump stated this to journalists at the White House.
"They want to make a deal, but they are not going for the deal that I consider necessary," the American leader said.
He also stated that he is not seeking to extend the memorandum of understanding with Iran, which implies a cessation of hostilities.
At the same time, Trump once again noted that he considers it an excellent idea to declare the Strait of Hormuz American territory: "I just think it's a great idea. I mean, we control it (the Strait of Hormuz - ed.)... I like the idea of declaring it our territory."
Earlier, the Al Arabiya television channel reported, citing sources, that the US and Iran had agreed to extend the ceasefire, but no official statements on this matter have been made so far.
