European Commission Head Reacted to US Decision

The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen did not announce specific countermeasures to American tariffs, calling for negotiations with US President Donald Trump on the cancellation of tariffs. However, in a special video address, she promised that EU countermeasures would be adopted if such consultations fail.

This is reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS.

"We call for negotiations on the removal of trade barriers with the US. But we are ready to act. We are close to completing the preparation of the first package of countermeasures, and we are ready to apply them if negotiations fail," said von der Leyen.

"I deeply regret President Trump's decision. The world economy will suffer heavily, the consequences will be catastrophic for all countries of the world and will severely impact the most vulnerable segments of the population," she stated.

The head of the European Commission called for unity in the community and protection of European producers.
