Bitcoin crashed 6% amid escalation of conflict in the Middle East
The price of bitcoin is falling by about 6% on Saturday, to 63.5 thousand dollars, amid escalation in the Middle East, according to trading data.
Earlier on Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched a large-scale operation against Iran. According to a statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this is a joint operation between the two countries.
On Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, bitcoin dropped 5.81% over the day to 63,556.8 dollars. Before the news of the Israeli strike on Iran, the figure stood at around 65.5 thousand dollars.
According to the CoinMarketCap portal, which calculates the average price across more than 20 exchanges, the price of bitcoin decreased by 5.79%, averaging 63,569.3 dollars.
