Attack on church in eastern Congo kills more than 40 people
Militants from the extremist group "Alliance of Democratic Forces" (ADF) killed more than 40 people in the village of Komanda in Ituri province in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), 20 of whom were killed inside a church, according to Congolese radio station Okapi.
The armed group attacked the village on the night of July 27, it notes. 43 people were killed, including 20 worshippers who were inside the temple for night prayer. The militants set fire to several public buildings and private homes.
Congolese government forces and units of the Ugandan army, stationed in Ituri province with the agreement of the DRC government, are searching for the militants.
