A heat record has been set in Spain
A heat record for June was set in Spain this week.
As reported by AFP, Spain's National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) announced that the highest average daily temperature for June since at least 1950 was recorded in the mainland part of the country.
Despite an expected drop in temperatures across most regions of the country on Thursday, high weather danger levels persist in certain areas of the Basque Country autonomous community in the north.
In particular, temperatures in the city of Bilbao are forecast to reach 39.3°C.
Meteorologists note that the extreme heat continues to affect a number of European countries.
