On June 19, the relevant departments of the central office of PU "Azneft" received information about traces of oil contamination discovered on the territory of Dubendi beach.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to PU "Azneft", during the initial inspection of the water area between Pirallahi Island and Dubendi, conducted with the involvement of vessels and a helicopter, an oil slick was discovered:

"Since at the initial stage of the incident, an active oil discharge point was not visually observed, several possible sources of contamination were considered. As a result of the diagnostic inspection conducted, it was established that the source of contamination was one of the underwater oil pipelines belonging to PU "Azneft". Immediately after identifying the source of the leak, oil transportation through the given underwater pipeline was stopped. PU "Azneft" established an operational headquarters to manage the incident, and the situation was brought under control.

As a result of diagnostic activities conducted by the diving service of PU "Azneft", mechanical damage was discovered on the underwater oil pipeline. According to preliminary assessment, it was established that the damage occurred as a result of contact with an external object, presumably an anchor.

Immediately after the damage was discovered, repair and restoration work was initiated. Until the completion of this work, the damaged pipeline has been taken out of operation, which prevents the continuation of oil leakage into the sea.

Work to eliminate the consequences of the incident, including the cleanup of the sea and coastal areas, is being carried out in close coordination between the Ministry of Emergency Situations and PU "Azneft".
