Scientists named two habits that help maintain slimness
Scientists from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health have discovered that meal timing can play a crucial role in controlling body weight. The results of this important study were published in the authoritative scientific journal International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (IJBNPA).
The large-scale study covered more than seven thousand adult volunteers aged 40 to 65 years. In 2018, participants provided detailed information about their diet, lifestyle, eating patterns, and physical parameters. After five years, more than three thousand of them underwent examination again, which allowed scientists to track the dynamics of changes.
The results were quite revealing: people who had breakfast early in the morning and had a significant break between dinner and sleep typically had a lower body mass index.
"This may be related to the fact that eating early in the day better aligns with circadian rhythms. This allows for better calorie burning and appetite regulation, which can help maintain a healthy weight. However, it's too early to draw final conclusions, so clear recommendations will have to be postponed until more convincing evidence is obtained," explained Luciana Pons-Muzzo, one of the study's authors.
