Products that should not be consumed during a cold have been named
Consumption of caffeine, sugar, saturated fats, and alcohol during a cold can worsen well-being. This was reported by family doctor Neil Patel from St. Bartholomew's Hospital (UK) and dietitian Dana Henderson in an interview with Infobae.
As reported by BAKU.WS, during ARVI and flu, it is necessary to completely eliminate drinks containing caffeine. According to Henderson, this natural stimulant can disrupt sleep, and quality night rest plays an important role in the function of immune cells and the body's response to infections. During the deep sleep phase, tissue and system recovery also actively occurs.
The dietitian emphasized that alcohol during a cold causes even more harm - it increases dehydration and can prolong the recovery process. Doctors also recommend avoiding foods high in saturated fats and sugar: fast food, chocolate, chips, and confectionery, as such food provokes inflammatory processes that intensify disease symptoms.
Patel added that during a cold, it is also worth giving up spicy food, as it irritates the gastrointestinal tract, which already functions worse than usual during infection, only increasing discomfort.
