WhatsApp has been completely blocked in Russia
The domain name of the WhatsApp messenger is no longer listed in the records of the National Domain Name System (NDNS) of the Russian Federation. This infrastructure was deployed as part of the implementation of the "sovereign Runet" legislation.
This was reported by the portal habr.com.
According to the information, access to the application is currently possible only through the use of a VPN. It is emphasized that on February 10, YouTube data was deleted from the NDNS database. After the domain of the video hosting service Youtube.com completely disappeared from the DNS servers of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) for Russian internet providers, the WhatsApp.com address also stopped appearing in the regulator's system.
According to industry analysts, such changes indicate the complete blocking of the service on Russian territory. Earlier, a similar situation occurred with YouTube: the platform was not simply throttled, but completely shut down. Experts believe that Roskomnadzor is thus redistributing resources to counter the operation of Telegram.
