Products that increase anxiety have been identified

Some common products - such as coffee, alcohol, confectionery, and fast food - can intensify feelings of anxiety. Julia Zumpano, a certified dietitian from the Center for Human Nutrition at Cleveland Clinic, told this in an interview with Parade magazine.
According to her, the impact of nutrition on emotional state is often underestimated, although the connection between diet and mood has long been proven. Highly processed foods, fried foods, dishes high in sugar, caffeine, and alcohol not only increase blood sugar and cholesterol levels but can also cause anxiety, nervousness, and even anxiety attacks.
The specialist advises against making drastic restrictions, but instead taking small yet sustainable steps - reducing caffeine consumption, cooking at home more often, and paying attention to eating habits. A food diary can be a good helper in this, allowing you to track how a particular product affects your well-being.
At the same time, Zumpano emphasizes that certain products, on the contrary, have a calming effect. For example, chamomile tea helps to relax, and tryptophan - an amino acid found in cherries, bananas, and nuts - can contribute to a feeling of calmness. Products rich in magnesium have a similar effect.
The expert recommends paying special attention to omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish, walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds. Research confirms that their regular consumption can reduce symptoms of anxiety.
