Popular myth about cucumber and tomato salad debunked

Nutritionist Alexander Burlakov debunked a common myth about tomato and cucumber salad.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Lenta.ru, the specialist shared scientifically based information in his Telegram channel, refuting a popular misconception.
According to Burlakov, the claim that tomatoes and cucumbers in one dish supposedly neutralize each other's beneficial properties has no serious foundation. "Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can be partially destroyed in the presence of ascorbinase (an enzyme in cucumbers), but this is insignificant and has no clinical significance within the diet as a whole," the doctor explained in detail.
The nutritionist especially emphasized that the combination of tomatoes and cucumbers in a salad remains a valuable source of antioxidants, fiber, potassium, and other important phytonutrients.
