Russian sports medicine and physical therapy doctor, nutritionist Ekaterina Strelnikova stated that when losing weight, it is not necessary to completely give up sweets - small amounts of quality desserts are quite acceptable.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the specialist's interview for lenta.ru, she urged not to deprive yourself of favorite sweets to avoid diet breakdowns. However, it is important to pay close attention to the composition of products.
"Among the least harmful sweets, classic marshmallows and meringues can be highlighted, not counting fruits and dried fruits," Strelnikova explained.
She also reminded that fast carbohydrates slow down the weight loss process. To reduce their negative impact, it's better to consume sweets in the first half of the day - then there are more chances to burn extra calories through physical activity.
