Mahir Mammadov elected FIDE vice-president for the third time

As part of the 46th World Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand, a congress of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) took place.

As reported by BAKU.WS, elections were held for leadership positions of the supreme chess body. President of the Chess Federation of Azerbaijan Mahir Mammadov was elected FIDE Vice-President for the next 4 years.

M. Mammadov was first elected FIDE Vice-President in 2018, and in 2022 he was given the opportunity to continue in this position for a second term.

The new FIDE President became Timur Turlov (Kazakhstan), who received 110 votes. He won in the second round of elections and was elected head of the supreme chess body for the next 4 years.
