The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement in connection with September 27 - Remembrance Day.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the statement reads:

"On the next anniversary of Remembrance Day - September 27, we honor with deep respect and gratitude the blessed memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020 and lasted 44 days, became an important turning point in the modern history of Azerbaijan and concluded with the restoration of our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the solidarity of our people, the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army and the high professionalism it demonstrated in the name of the Fatherland played an important role in achieving this historic result.

The establishment of September 27 as Remembrance Day is an expression of respect for the blessed memory of our martyrs at the state and national level. On this day, the selflessness of each of our martyrs who gave their lives for the Fatherland, as well as the valor of war veterans and ghazis, is once again remembered with reverence.

In the period following the Patriotic War, Azerbaijan has been consistently implementing measures to restore and reconstruct the territories liberated from occupation, eliminate the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, including the mine threat, ensure the safe and dignified return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, and establish the fates of persons who went missing during the conflict.

The greatest manifestation of respect for the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives in the Patriotic War is the preservation of the values they fought for - independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty and national solidarity, as well as the strengthening of sustainable peace and security in the region. In this regard, the sacred memory of the heroes of the Patriotic War will forever live on as an important historical and spiritual heritage that Azerbaijan will pass on to future generations.

On Remembrance Day - September 27, we once again honor with deep respect the blessed memory of all our martyrs who gave their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and wish good health to the war veterans who sacrificed their health on this path."
