Alarming news has shaken the pharmaceutical market: the popular anti-inflammatory drug "Nimesil" has been banned in the United States and European Union countries. The reason for such a radical decision was numerous reports of serious side effects and complications associated with taking this medication.
According to medical experts, the drug shows aggressive effects on the human body. Studies have revealed that "Nimesil" can cause serious damage to the stomach lining. Moreover, the high toxicity of the drug can lead to lung tissue damage.
Specialists note a number of alarming symptoms associated with taking the drug: from unpleasant burning sensations and heartburn to potentially life-threatening gastric bleeding.
A logical question arises: could this drug be banned in Azerbaijan, and what other dangers does "Nimesil" hide? Pediatrician and infectious disease specialist Ayten Ziyadova shared her opinion on this matter with Oxu.az.
She noted that "Nimesil" is primarily a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory drug containing the active ingredient nimesulide. "Although the drug is used in both children and adults, it has several dangerous side effects," the doctor emphasized.
"Speaking about the harm of 'Nimesil' for adults, first of all, we should note problems with the stomach and intestines. 'Nimesil' can cause serious gastrointestinal disorders. We're talking about inflammation, ulcers, and bleeding. Additionally, with long-term use, it can affect the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of hypertension, heart failure, and vascular problems," said Ayten Ziyadova.
The doctor also noted the negative effects of "Nimesil" on liver and kidney functions: "Liver damage and kidney problems are more common with long-term use of the drug."
Furthermore, according to Ayten Ziyadova, "Nimesil" can trigger allergic reactions: "Some people may experience allergic reactions to the drug - from itching to anaphylactic shock in rare cases. Some patients taking 'Nimesil' develop breathing problems - shortness of breath and suffocation."
"Nimesil" poses a particular danger to children. "The use of this drug in pediatrics is generally not recommended as it causes various complications in children. 'Nimesil' can affect liver function in children and lead to liver damage. Children may also experience abdominal pain, vomiting, and digestive disorders. The side effects of 'Nimesil' are more pronounced and more dangerous in children, especially those under two years of age," the doctor added.
According to Ayten Ziyadova, children may experience dizziness, drowsiness, and other nervous system disorders while taking "Nimesil." "Adults should only take 'Nimesil' as prescribed by a doctor and for a short period. Children should not be given 'Nimesil,' especially if not prescribed by a doctor. If any negative effects appear while taking the drug, you should immediately consult a doctor. People with liver and kidney diseases should be especially careful. Always consult a doctor about using 'Nimesil,' as medication use may vary depending on your health condition," concluded A.Ziyadova.
