The treatment of the patient infected with monkeypox virus continues at the appropriate medical facility.
This was reported by the press service of the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units of Azerbaijan (TƏBIB) in response to Report's inquiry.
It was noted that the patient's condition is currently assessed as stable.
Recall that on January 18, the first case of monkeypox was detected in Azerbaijan. In a joint statement by the Ministry of Health and TƏBIB, it was reported that a 22-year-old Azerbaijani citizen, who was on a tourist trip abroad from January 2 to 11, sought medical attention at one of the capital's clinics several days after returning with complaints of weakness, fever, fluid-filled rashes in the genital area, enlarged lymph nodes, and muscle pain.
The presence of symptoms along with the epidemiological link provided grounds for taking a laboratory test, and the PCR analysis result taken from the patient's rash was positive for the monkeypox virus.
