Individuals suspected of fraud under the guise of fortune-telling on social media have been detained.

BAKU.WS was informed about this by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that citizens' reports to the police about cases of fraud on social media under the guise of "fortune-telling," "clairvoyance," and other similar services are being closely monitored and thoroughly investigated.

For instance, a resident of the capital contacted a page on TikTok that had posted an advertisement about fortune-telling. After this, he received a response from the page requesting his contact number. Two women, after contacting him, fraudulently demanded 500 manats while making false promises. After transferring the requested amount to a bank card, calls to the specified number stopped going through, and the page was blocked. Realizing he had become a victim of fraud, the affected individual contacted the police.

As a result of measures taken by officers of the 32nd Police Department of Surakhani District Police Office, 46-year-old G. Mirzaeva and 24-year-old A. Abbasova, who committed fraud under the guise of fortune-telling, were detained.

An investigation is underway.

"We appeal to social media users and remind you once again that when encountering such advertisements, under no circumstances should you make payments or share personal information with strangers," the statement notes.
