Plastic Surgeons Losing Their Licenses: Will Prices Rise?

As previously reported, due to numerous citizen complaints, an inspection of the legal grounds for professional activities of plastic surgeons practicing in the country has begun.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan has established a Special Inspection Commission, which includes authorized representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Science and Education.

However, reports have already appeared in the press about the revocation of licenses of several plastic surgeons.

How might this affect the number and cost of aesthetic surgeries?

Commenting on the situation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Adil Geybulla noted that the license revocations will not significantly impact the effectiveness of plastic surgery in general.

"In fact, there are enough plastic surgeons in the country whom patients can consult. There will just be less talk about this topic. This was a necessary measure that sooner or later had to be taken. In the future, it is necessary to implement an accreditation system, exercise strict control over doctors' activities, and organize license issuance. The issue should be addressed at a systemic level," he said.

Regarding the cost of operations, the expert emphasized that prices are regulated by market competition.
