Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan addressed the citizens

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan has once again addressed citizens regarding the increasing cases of cyber fraud.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, cybercriminals are constantly improving their methods to carry out criminal intentions.
"Despite various scenarios, the goal remains the same - to deceive people and take possession of their funds. Fraudsters create fake profiles on social networks using personal data of real users, and also use number cloning methods in WhatsApp and Telegram messengers," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
According to the department, in recent months there has been an increase in the number of cases of theft of citizens' funds by such methods. The scheme is simple: a message supposedly from a friend or acquaintance comes to a social network account or phone number with a request to lend money. The name, surname, and profile photo match those of a real person.
"The victim transfers money to the specified account. But after just a few minutes, they discover that the profile is blocked or the number is unavailable. And the friend has no idea about what happened. We urge citizens to be vigilant, not to share personal information with anyone, as well as bank card data," the statement says.
