Long-awaited news for Baku metro users

As part of the Baku metro development, construction of 51 new stations and laying of additional 84.3 km of metro lines is planned for the future.
This is stated in the State Program for improving transport infrastructure in Baku city and adjacent territories for 2025-2030, approved by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev.
"These projects will ensure passenger flow convenience and contribute to the city's sustainable mobility strategy," the program notes.
It is reported that a contract has been signed with a foreign supplier for 65 carriages, with 35 carriages to be delivered to the country in 2024 and put into passenger service. Taking into account growing passenger demand, construction of 10 new metro stations is planned from this year until 2030.
According to the "Conceptual scheme for the development of Baku Metropolitan lines," the total metro network will consist of 5 lines, 76 stations, 6 electric depots, and lines with a total length of 119.1 km.
