From July this year, marriages between close relatives will be prohibited in Azerbaijan.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to APA, this was announced by Deputy Minister of Justice Abiddin Huseynov at public hearings on the topic "Rights of family, women and children as the main priority of constitutional rights," organized by the Committee on Family, Women and Children of the Milli Mejlis within the framework of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty".
The Deputy Minister noted that this decision is aimed at protecting public health: "To more effectively combat early marriages, new provisions have been added to the Criminal and Administrative Codes. At the same time, we are working to prevent early marriages and unofficial marriages.
