Are prohibited substances added to food?

Recently, people have been moving away from natural food and increasingly prefer packaged products. Although the practicality and attractive appearance of these products draw attention, one should not forget that they can be a source of potential health hazards.

Experts warn that labels on products purchased in stores often remain unnoticed. Yet the so-called E-additives, indicated on them as codes, can seriously harm a person. These ingredients function as colorants, thickeners, and fillers. According to nutrition experts, there are certain additives that can even cause cancer.

The European Union uses E-codes to facilitate the identification of food additives. Although there are between 100 and 1,500 such codes, not all of them are considered harmful. However, there are synthetic food additives whose use is prohibited in some countries.

As stated by the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, the standards for additives in food products are regulated by the Board's Resolution No. 42 of the mentioned structure. According to the decision, they are allowed to be used only in products for adults; they are completely prohibited in baby food. In other products, maximum limits are observed.
