A G2 has hit Earth: what does this mean?

Earth's magnetic field experienced a moderate disturbance - the magnetic storm level reached G2.
This was reported by the Institute of Applied Geophysics, according to TASS.
On the intensity scale from G1 (weak) to G5 (extremely strong), the G2 level is considered "moderate." Such a storm can affect power systems, cause disruptions in radio communications and radio navigation. The appearance of auroras at latitudes up to 50 degrees is also possible.
Earlier, scientists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences recorded the ejection of two powerful solar prominences on April 13. According to their forecasts, magnetic storms of G1-G2 levels are expected in the near future.
