Turkestan Declaration: OTG leaders highly praised Azerbaijan's chairmanship
The leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) expressed support for Azerbaijan's chairmanship, highly appreciating the country's priorities for its chairmanship period.
As Report informs, this is stated in the Turkestan Declaration adopted today following the informal OTS summit.
According to the document, the signatories highly appreciated the successful holding of the Summit in Gabala on October 7, 2025, on the theme "Regional Peace and Security."
"We express support for the current chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the priorities outlined by it, as well as confidence that the Azerbaijani chairmanship will contribute to further strengthening of the OTS as an effective platform for cooperation among member states," the declaration states.
The summit participants also congratulated Turkey on the successful holding of informal meetings of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul on March 7, 2026, and on the sidelines of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on April 18, 2026. The leaders welcomed the outcomes of these meetings and emphasized the importance of organizing them more regularly.
The signatories also welcomed the adoption of the new Constitution of Kazakhstan, which includes provisions on the protection of citizens' rights in the digital environment, reflecting the country's commitment to responding to modern challenges of the digital era and creating a sustainable legal framework for future development.
"The heads of state positively assessed the signing of the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), the Memorandum of Understanding on the development of the Turkic large language model, as well as the ongoing implementation of the 'Digital Silk Road' project, which collectively contribute to strengthening technological cooperation and digital connectivity in the Turkic world," the document states.
The heads of state particularly emphasized the success of the World Telecommunication Development Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (WTDC-25), held in Baku on November 17-28, 2025, as an important contribution to advancing global digital transformation, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting inclusive and sustainable digital development.
The leaders reaffirmed their support for Kyrgyzstan's initiative to host the 6th World Nomad Games from August 31 to September 6, 2026, and called on member states and observers to actively participate in this important international event, as well as to promote digital tools for the preservation, presentation, and international promotion of the cultural heritage and traditional sports of Turkic peoples.
The heads of state also welcomed the opening of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and emphasized its role as a modern platform for the application of artificial intelligence, interactive technologies, and digital solutions in the preservation, study, and popularization of the scientific and cultural heritage of the Islamic world.
