Executive Director of BIG: Even UN structures reference our reports

The main goal of our organization, established on July 6, 2023, is to support parties fighting against colonialism, as well as ethnic minorities and indigenous peoples.

Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), stated this in an interview with Baku TV.

He spoke about the strategic goals of the organization and the regions of cooperation.

"We have established close cooperation with the political movements of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Martinique, and other overseas territories. Currently, we continue to work both with these regions and with former colonies in African countries on United Nations (UN) platforms," he noted.

A. Abbasov also explained the global influence of the organization and the reasons for the partnership with the Sikh community.

"Today, the Baku Initiative Group is an internationally recognized authoritative non-governmental organization. Even UN structures reference our reports. The Sikh community's primary interest in cooperating with us is related to bringing to the international agenda the facts of transnational repression applied against them. They see the legitimate support we provide in the fight against colonialism and attach great importance to educational activities in this direction," he added.
