The first Trans-Caspian freight train from the north Chinese city of Tianjin departed today for Baku.

This was reported by Xinhua.

The train, owned by China Railway Beijing Group, will travel through Kazakhstan and then be transported across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan. It carries cargo with stainless steel pipes, household appliances, and other goods.

"The new route creates a stable and efficient transport corridor connecting Tianjin with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and other countries in the region," noted Yang Junyong, a representative of the Tianjin Container Center.

According to the agency, the route is approximately 7,000 kilometers long, and the travel time is about 20 days, which is 10 days faster than traditional sea transportation.

Baku, being a key hub of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, Middle Corridor), will be able to direct cargo arriving from China to other countries and regions.
