MFA: Two civilians injured as a result of Iranian drone strikes on Nakhchivan
On March 5, around noon, drone strikes were carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
"One of the drones hit the terminal building of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's airport, the second one landed in the immediate vicinity of a school in the village of Shekerabab.
The Azerbaijani side strongly condemns these drone strikes launched from Iranian territory, which resulted in damage to the airport building and injuries to two civilians.
This attack on Azerbaijani territory is contrary to the norms and principles of international law and leads to an escalation of tensions in the region.
Azerbaijan demands that the Islamic Republic of Iran clarify the situation as soon as possible, provide explanations regarding this incident, and immediately take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The Azerbaijani side reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures," the statement reads.
