President: The Azerbaijani people have set a precedent in the world
All cities and villages in Karabakh and East Zangezur were destroyed to the ground. Ethnic cleansing was carried out against our people. About one million Azerbaijanis were expelled from their native lands as a result of the ethnic cleansing policy by the Armenian state.
As reported by BAKU.WS, President Ilham Aliyev stated this at a meeting with participants of international conferences in Baku.
Noting that the major powers that supported Armenia wanted not to resolve the issue but to drag it out and make the occupation permanent, the head of state said: "By providing Armenia with military, economic, and political support, these states were effectively rewarding the occupier. The Azerbaijani people put an end to this injustice and set a precedent in the world. Because until that time, occupied territories were unfortunately not liberated. In any case, in the 20th and 21st centuries, this had not occurred or had occurred extremely rarely."
