Leaders of Turkey and Pakistan discussed relations between the two countries
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Turkish Presidential Administration, the meeting discussed relations between the two countries, as well as regional and global issues.
"We have supported and continue to support every step that will contribute to reducing tensions in our region and resolving problems through diplomatic means," Erdogan said.
According to him, Turkey will continue to act in solidarity with brotherly countries, particularly with Pakistan, to strengthen peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The head of state emphasized that Turkey strives to create an atmosphere in which all residents of the region, regardless of their religion, could live in peace and security.
Regarding bilateral relations, Erdogan stated that Ankara intends to deepen cooperation with Islamabad in the areas of energy, transport, critical mineral resources, and information technology.
In turn, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, thanking the Turkish President for his hospitality, emphasized that in difficult times both countries have supported each other. He recalled that in 2010, during the floods in Pakistan, the Turkish leader visited the region, and his wife Emine Erdogan donated her necklace in support of the victims. Sharif described Pakistan and Turkey as "two hearts - one spirit."
He also noted that the parties reaffirmed the shared conviction that dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect remain the only sustainable path for resolving disagreements and ensuring international peace and security.
