Kazakhstan expressed concern over Iran's attack on Nakhchivan
Kazakhstan expresses concern over today's attack by Iran on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev in a phone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
According to information from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bayramov emphasized that the Iranian drone strike caused damage to civilian infrastructure, and there are also casualties among the civilian population. The minister added that this attack constitutes a violation of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The minister also informed the Kazakh side that Baku demanded explanations from Iran regarding this incident, as well as an apology and the adoption of urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
In turn, Yermek Kosherbayev expressed deep concern over the attacks that took place and expressed hope that the situation would not lead to further escalation.
As a reminder, on March 5, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Iran attacked targets on the territory of Nakhchivan. One of the drones hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and the second one landed near a school building in the village of Shekerebad. As a result of the airport attack, four civilians were injured. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Damirchilu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan stated that it reserves the right to a retaliatory strike.
