The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Turkey issued a statement regarding Iran's drone attack on Nakhchivan.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the ministry's statement strongly condemns the unmanned aerial vehicle attacks on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from Iran.

"We once again emphasize the need for the immediate cessation of such attacks directed against third countries in the region that increase the risk of war escalation. Turkey will continue to support Azerbaijan, as it always has," the statement reads.

As a reminder, on the afternoon of March 5, unmanned aerial vehicle attacks were carried out on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. One of the drones struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan Airport, while another fell near a school building in the village of Shekerabab. The airport building sustained damage, and four people were injured as a result of the incident.

The MFA of Azerbaijan strongly condemned the attack, stating that this assault on the territory of Azerbaijan contradicts the norms and principles of international law and contributes to the escalation of tensions in the region. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mujtaba Damirchilu, was summoned to the MFA. The Ministry of Defense placed full responsibility for the incident on the Islamic Republic of Iran, assuring that such acts of aggression will not go unanswered.
