Ilham Aliyev touched upon the reasons hindering the development of the mining industry in Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev, at a meeting dedicated to the State Program for the Development of the Mining and Metallurgical Industry, addressed the reasons hindering the development of the mining industry in Azerbaijan.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the head of state said in this regard: "Unfortunately, the development of the mining industry in Azerbaijan has not reached the proper level due to both objective and subjective reasons. The objective reasons are that many of our deposits discovered during the Soviet era were located in occupied regions, and the Armenian state continued its occupation policy, including the plundering of the natural resources of the Azerbaijani people and state."

The President of Azerbaijan also added that during the Soviet era, certain exploration works were carried out. However, during that period, this region, and especially Azerbaijan, was not considered a priority direction in this sphere by the Soviet leadership.
