Hikmet Hajiyev: Mines are a constant threat to both people and animals

Mines continue to pose a danger to both people and animals.
This was written by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev on his X social media page.
"This time in the mountains of Kalbajar, a dog became a victim of an anti-personnel mine installed by Armenia during the occupation period. Fortunately, the prompt intervention of Azerbaijani military medics saved its life," Hajiyev wrote.
He emphasized that since 2020, more than 400 Azerbaijani civilians and military personnel have fallen victim to mines planted by Armenia. "In addition, remaining buried underground for years, mines cause soil erosion and destroy local vegetation," he added.
Landmines are not just remnants of the past — they are an ongoing danger to both humans and animals.
