Trump Explained the Reason for Deploying Nuclear Submarines Near Russia's Coast
The American Navy is ahead of Russia and China in submarines by about 25 years. Currently, the US Navy has 71 nuclear submarines.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Kommersant", this was stated by US President Donald Trump at a meeting with admirals and generals in Virginia.
According to him, Russia's recent statements about nuclear weapons were the reason for the deployment of nuclear submarines to the Russian coast:
"We recently received a small threat from Russia, and I sent a nuclear submarine - the most deadly weapon. I deployed one or two submarines, I won't specify, purely as a precaution. We cannot allow anyone to throw around the word 'nuclear'," Trump noted.
He also emphasized that the US intends to strengthen its armed forces: "In the coming years, we will make the army stronger, tougher, faster, fiercer and more powerful than ever before. I have restored our nuclear arsenal, as you know, but we will continue to improve it."
Earlier, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev admitted the possibility of transferring nuclear weapons to Iran and criticized the American ultimatum to end the conflict in Ukraine. He also recalled the Soviet automatic retaliatory nuclear strike system "Perimeter" ("Dead Hand"), warning the United States about the risk of direct military confrontation.
In August, Donald Trump reported that he ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed in "appropriate regions" in case threats from Moscow go beyond rhetoric. Shortly after that, he stated that the US is fully prepared for a possible nuclear confrontation with Russia.
